I absolutely love being a mother!
We were trying to conceive for 3 years before we finally went to see our GP. The doctor referred us to our local hospital for some diagnostic tests and that’s when we discovered that in our case it was male factor infertility. Sadly, the NHS are now also taking into account the male’s BMI so we were not eligible for any funding at all.
We then started to look at lots of clinics around our area, Wolverhampton, and finally came across CREATE Fertility. It was through the CREATE clinic we heard about abc ivf. At that time abc only had a clinic in London. When we compared the costs of going to a clinic near us with the cost of treatment plus travel to London, abc ivf was still more affordable so we decided to go for it and book an Initial Consultation and Scan.
When we came for the Initial consultation, we were made to feel really at ease. They explained everything very well. We definitely left feeling like all our questions were answered and that we knew exactly what to expect.
We were so keen, we booked our Treatment Consultation the same day and started treatment the next month.
We went for our treatment consultation at abc and again we were very impressed with the caring service we received. I was quite scared of needles and the Nurse Consultant talked us through every step and showed us exactly how to do all the injections and when. The next step was to start the medication and come in for monitoring scans to see how my follicles were developing and everything went smoothly every time. Once my follicles had developed enough, we went to CREATE Fertility for the egg collection and embryo transfer.
I didn’t really know what to expect from the procedures. I didn’t want to do too much research because I often end up scaring myself so I put my trust in the clinical staff completely. The team at CREATE were also very lovely. We were so happy when we were told they collected 8 eggs and 4 of those had fertilised. We were even happier when all of them became healthy blastocysts and had one of those carefully transferred into my womb.
I took time off work during the two week wait and planned to see family and friends lots during that time. I was just trying to keep myself really busy and I think that helped keep my mind from wandering too much.
We live quite far from the clinics, so the team kindly allowed us to do a test at home and then travel to London for the scan at 6 weeks. We ended up doing the test at 3am – I just couldn’t wait any longer!
Before testing I had convinced myself that treatment hadn’t worked as I had some bleeding, so to see the test come back positive felt surreal. It was an absolutely amazing moment for us; I don’t think any words can actually describe the feeling.
The whole pregnancy was brilliant too. I was very lucky and had no symptoms at all, so I enjoyed every second of it. I absolutely love being a mother. Life with a baby is, of course, stressful at times but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I would recommend abc ivf to anyone. When we were first looking into abc, we were worried it might be too good to be true and wanted to read real people’s experiences. I actually ended up messaging one of the ladies who had left a review on the abc Facebook page and she instantly reassured me. She said it was the best decision she’d ever made and that gave me hope.
I hope that sharing my experience can do the same for others.
