Rosie's Successful IVF Journey with abc IVF
Coming to abc IVF was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was so friendly, they let us ask our questions and never made us feel that we were asking a stupid question.
When we were tested, we found out that my husband has low sperm count and motility. We’d been trying nearly 3 years and hadn’t gotten anywhere so we decided to go down the IVF route.
We were eligible for NHS treatment, but we had such a nightmare with the doctor surgery. We actually left because it took them 2 years to try to refer us for it. I had to keep repeating the test because every time I’d done one it would time out. I ended up having the scans 4 times, the blood tests 6 times and taking all that time off work. We were sick of messing around.
I started researching online, I didn’t know anything about IVF I started looking into what was needed for male fertility issues. abc IVF came up as being a milder form of IVF so that really appealed to me because it meant less injections and medication on my side as well. Also, the clinic in London is right near where I work so it was really convenient for me to get to appointments.
The scan and consultation were fine at that point; they weren’t telling us anything we didn’t already know from the tests from the NHS. It was good and it was thorough, we were able to ask any questions, but we did know what to expect. I ended up having mild IVF. The staff treated us really well. We were so happy with our treatment in general because after having such a horrendous experience with the NHS, coming to abc IVF was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was so friendly, they let us ask our questions and never made us feel that we were asking a stupid question. As soon as we confirmed it went so quickly it was a real relief after the amount of time we’d spent. I was really keen to do it before I turned 35.
I was in disbelief when I found out I was pregnant. We’d been trying for 3 years, and I had gotten used to being disappointed. I did about 5 tests and I tested early actually because I couldn’t wait. We were really excited. Pregnancy was pretty much by the book, pretty straightforward. I was a bit sick in the beginning and I had a real aversion to garlic but that cleared up after 12 weeks.
I would absolutely recommend abc IVF to other women or couples.
I really felt we were kept completely informed and could get as much information as we needed but we weren’t bombarded with information either.
To anyone who wants to start the process I’d say make sure you’re mentally prepared for it, do some research to understand the exact steps.
