I would absolutely recommend abc ivf!
My husband and I had been trying to conceive for around 3 and a half years when we finally decided to see our doctor. We were referred to the local hospital for some tests and were told we had unexplained infertility.
Sadly, they were not able to offer us any treatment as the NHS funding had been completely cut in our area, so we had to go private. After some research around the different fertility clinics, we began thinking we might need to go abroad for more affordable treatment. In order to explore all our options in more detail, we attended the Fertility Show and that’s where we first spoke to the team at abc ivf. We had spoken to lots of clinics that day and felt like none of them really had time for us unless we booked and paid for a Consultation there and then, whereas abc felt different. They were really welcoming and really took the time to understand our situation. They explained everything to us in great detail and answered all our questions without any pressure to book an appointment.
After we had some time to think through our options, we decided to go with abc ivf. The affordability was one of the main reasons we were attracted to abc, however their warm approach was also very important for me.
The first step in our treatment was to attend an Initial Consultation and Scan and we both left feeling positive and happy. We had been waiting for so long to start a family, so we were really keen to start treatment right away.
From then on, it all happened pretty quickly. We had our Treatment Consultation, organised the delivery for all the medication needed and it was time to begin.
I was actually really proud of myself because I have always been petrified of needles, but I was so determined to make this happen and did all the injections correctly myself. My follicles were monitored and were developing well, so the next step was to go for the egg retrieval procedure.
There is no need to worry about this procedure at all. I was made to feel really comfortable and the clinical staff are absolutely brilliant at what they do. I didn’t feel a thing and, in the end, it was a really positive experience.
We had 12 eggs collected and out of those, 7 fertilised and went on to become healthy blastocysts. I had one of those embryos transferred and the procedure was over quickly. The only reason it was a little bit uncomfortable is because you must have a full bladder, but overall it was amazing. You get to watch them transfer your embryo on the ultrasound screen and even get a picture to take home with you!
The two-week wait was the hardest part of treatment for me. I was very impatient and nervous the whole time. I really wanted to know the outcome, but I know the medication can cause false reading, so I did my best not to test at home.
In the end I gave in and tested 3 days before I had my blood test booked with abc. It was a day before Mother’s Day and I knew that it would be really hard if we don’t get the result we were hoping for, however if the test was positive I could celebrate Mother’s Day for the first time.
I was going to be a mother! The test came back positive and honestly, we were both in shock. My partner couldn’t really believe it; it was at the 12-week scan that it really sank in for him. We were both just over the moon and so happy that we were able to freeze the other embryos and visit abc ivf again in the near future.
Life with a baby is wonderful. It is stressful, enjoyable and brings so many emotions that I can’t even explain, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I would absolutely recommend abc ivf. One of my friends has just given birth to another abc baby recently and we’re both constantly telling women who are trying to conceive how amazing abc are. They’ve changed my life.
